Tonsillitis is one of the most common diseases in children. In tonsillitis, all or more of the following symptoms may be present;
Fever, chills, chills, swollen and red tonsils, sore throat, earache, weakness, malaise, widespread pain in the body, joint pain, swelling in the lymph nodes in the neck, tenderness, pain, headache, loss of appetite, bad breath.
Along with these in children;
Nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may accompany them.
Untreated tonsil infection can cause many complications, especially tonsil abscess, rheumatic heart disease and kidney inflammation.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is made by ear, nose and throat examination and, if necessary, throat culture.
Treatment:
Oral care should be done with bed rest, adequate fluid intake and antiseptic mouthwash, pain reliever – antipyretic and antibiotics are given if bacterial infection is considered.
